Small Business Saturday & a Virtual Market
Purple bathrobe, a toddler on my lap watching Sesame Street, and my dog at my feet…. that’s the current situation as I write this blog post! I’m still finding it hard to wrap my head around Thanksgiving being only a few days away! This also means Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday. I often wonder why Sunday doesn’t have a cool name for it but let me not squirrel into that thought and get back on the days with the cool titles.
Personally, I have never shopped a Black Friday before. I choose to eat left overs and have part two of Thanksgiving that day, check out online deals, and get ready for Small Business Saturday! I have always loved Small Business Saturday. You can tell by my Small Business Saturday tote bag collection!
This year, things will look different for many as shoppers don’t feel comfortable leaving their homes. The main issue is shopping in a crowd of people while we navigate safety, rules, and regulations. This is one reason why local businesses are great to shop during this time! you often don’t have to deal with mass crowds and you get to support local people in our community.
Watertown First, a local organization of community-minded individuals and independent businesses has worked hard over the past few years helping to strengthen our local economy and Small Business Saturday with great events. This year, they will be taking their event online and I’m soooo pumped for it! I became a member of the organization in August after their first virtual Market and it was a blast for my business and also learning about others!
